GEMS Missionary Beaten in North Bihar and Threatened to Leave the Place

GEMS missionary Bro. Mangal Guriya was beaten up while conducting prayer in a village in Nautan in the W.Champaran district of Bihar.

Bro. Mangal Guriya serves as a missionary at Nautan (PEACE 3 Zone). On 16th November 2017 he was conducting prayer at Dograiya village. A man belonging to a far-right-wing organization stopped him from conducting prayers and bet him severely. Bro. Mangal sustained injuries to his nose and in both the hands. The man also threatened and warned him to leave the place or else to face dire consequences. Bro. Mangal has not known this person before.

Bro. Mangal has been serving in this field for the last six months. He was serving at Jagdishpur earlier.

Pray for Bro. Mangal Guriya, his wife Sis. Munni and son, for God’s protection to be upon them. Pray for the ministry at Nautan to continue to touch and transform people. Pray for the opposers to know the love of Jesus and to be transformed by the power of the gospel.

Youths of Varanasi and Maharashtra Make Strides Closer to Christ

GEMS STORM conducted a meeting in Varanasi through which 40 students heard the gospel and GEMS Maharashtra discipled 35 youths in Christ.

STORM (STudents Out Reach Ministries) conducted a gospel meeting at GEMS Action Centre, Varanasi on 31st October 2017 in which 40 students attended among whom nine attended for the first time.

Bro. Samuel Sim from Singapore shared the message and Dr. Manav shared his testimony.

A youth meeting was conducted at Lavhala on 20th & 21st Oct 2017 in which youths from GEMS churches of Shirala, Kokrud and Shedagewadi participated.

Bro. Sanjay Francis (Belgaum) was the guest speaker and he spoke on a) Who we are in Christ? b) How can we serve God? c) How to take decision? and d) Walking with God. The meeting helped the youths to commit themselves for ministry.

Pray for all the students and youths who attended the meetings at Varanasi and Maharashtra. Pray for the follow up of the new students of Varanasi. Pray that the committed youths may continue to grow in Christ and to be effective witnesses.

Pray for Rudi Who Met With Road Accident

Bro. Rudi who serves as at GEMS Polytechnic College met with a road accident today, 1st November 2017.

At 4 PM today, 1stNovember, his bike was hit by a tractor on the Barun-Aurangabad road. He was immediately taken to a Government PHC for first aid and then he was moved to GEMS Hospital, Sikaria.

By God's grace there is no injury in the brain but according to the radiologist there is much injury to the facial bones; several fracture in the facial bone because of which there was bleeding through nose and ear. Doctors have suggested to take him to South India to be operated by a Maxillofacial Surgeon. 

Bro. Rudi Stebner is a volunteer of Intermission-Germany who serves as Lecturer and Training & Placement Officer at GEMS Polytechnic College in Aurangabad, Bihar.

Please pray for Bro. Rudi's healing and complete recovery. Pray for his wife Sis. Luisa and children to be strengthened by God during this time.

Falsely Accused and Arrested Missionaries and Believers Released on Bail in Dudhi

Fasting Prayer rally at Dudhi, Uttar Pradesh was stopped by RSS with police support and arrested missionaries & believers on false charges. They are released on bail.

Fasting Prayer rally was being conducted at Dudhi, Uttar Pradesh from 26th October 2017 by GEMS and Dudhi Christian church. On the final day, 28th October a group of RSS & BJP members stormed the meeting ground and with the help of the police stopped the meeting and sent the 1400 people away. RSS Leader Advocate Dilip Pandey spearheaded this disruption and trouble. He announced at the ground using the organizers’ equipment that two hours is given to vacate all people. (Read:

Unlawful Entry of RSS in the School
Some people were accommodated at GEMS English School, Dudhi. This group entered the private property of the school, with the police, with no legal documents and began to frantically search the school premises for the Christian believers. They abused & bet the school peon, the school bus helper and teacher Mr. Philip and Mr. Nehemiah. While vegetarian food was being served to the accommodate people, the RSS people raised false issue that cow meat was being served.

Arrest & Confinement
Subsequently Bro. Praveen Das (Zonal Superintendent, Sonebhadra), Bro. Nehemiah (Dudhi), Bro. Philip (Dudhi), Bro. Ashok Kumar (Umariah), Bro. Surender Mehta (Chattarpur), Bro. Arvind Kumar (Dudhi CC) and Bro. Ajay Daniel (Dudhi CC) were taken under police custody at around 2:30 PM on 28th October.

GEMS with the help of Persecution Relief and ADF spoke to the SHO, DSP, SP and other police officials. Every official mentioned that they are being pressurized from above and Sangh affiliates; who were trying to create trouble and to implicate the Christians on false charges.

When GEMS tried to hire a lawyer, no lawyer was willing to take up this issue. Finally, one advocate took up this at 10 AM on 29th October. By this time, the seven people were falsely charged with fabricated cases under Section 151 and Section 107/116. Bail was arranged and they were released at 1:30 PM.

Sangh’s Atrocity
Members of RSS, VHP & Bajrang Dal went in the morning of 29th October (Sunday) to GEMS schools at Katauli and Giwihi to find out whether prayer or worship is being conducted. They were trying to frame false charges against these institutions and GEMS English School, Dudhi.

Biased Media
Newspapers published biased and false reports on the whole issue.

Though RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal, BJP were against the missionaries and believers and pulled all strings to instigate falsely, with the help of the police, rallying the mass and media, the living God demonstrated that He reigns! 
PraiseGod for His intervention, protection and deliverance. 
Pray for this opposition at Dudhi and in places in Uttar Pradesh. 
Pray for the might and power of God to be demonstrated and for His name to be glorified. 
Pray for the ministries to touch & transform widely and deeply, like never before and for a great harvest to follow.

Missionary Given Ultimatum of Life and Another Confined at Police Station

GEMS missionary at Rajhara, Jharkhand has been given ultimatum of life by a thug paid by the Sangh. Missionaries at Shaktinagar, Uttar Pradesh was confined whole night at the police station for showing Jesus film. 

Thug Threatens to Kill Missionary in Jharkhand
There has been continuous opposition to the GEMS church at Rajhara (Palamu District) in Jharkhand.

A few days back Alok Pandey a resident of Rajhara and a well-known thug of this area has threatened the GEMS missionary Bro. Augustine Kujur. In the recent phone call he has said, “I have been told from above (Sangh affiliates who have paid him) to deal with you. If you want to stay here pay me fifty thousand rupees. If not, I will kidnap you and you will not be found”. Alok Pandey has given ultimatum to the missionary until Chhatth(26th October) gets over.

Though many cases are pending on Alok Pandey, he enjoys the protection of political people and the police. He is close to some of the top police officials in the Palamu district.  

Missionaries Confined at Police Station in Uttar Pradesh
GEMS missionaries (Sonebhadra Zone) Bro. Suresh Silas & Bro. Ravi were showing Jesus film at Shaktinagar (Sonbhadra district) in Uttar Pradesh on 9th & 10th October 2017 after getting permission from Sarpanch.

In the evening of 10th October while the film show was going on, a person had complained. Though the people wanted to see, the police confined the missionaries and two believers at the Kota Shaktinagar police station from 8:30 PM until 11 AM next day (11th October). Though GEMS officials and other people called the police in the night of 10thOctober, the Sub Inspector Mr. S.P. Singh who attended the calls denied confining and reprimanding the missionaries at the station. Later it was known that when the phone call was made the missionaries were right beside the SI.

Pray for the persecution and opposition at Rajhara and Shaktinagar. Pray for the protection of the missionary at Rajhara. Pray that the Lord may intervene and make know His might. Pray for the political, police, administrative and judicial officials to be unbiased and to uphold the constitution and to protect every citizen irrespective of caste or creed.

GEMS Church Inaugurated at Belwaniya in Bihar for the Glory of God

GEMS House of Prayer was built and inaugurated at Belwaniya, Bihar in the PEACE 2 Zone (GEMS North West Region) for God’s glory.

The inauguration of the GEMS Church at Belwaniya in the Bhojpur district of Bihar was held on 15th October 2017 and was attended by 275 people. It began with prayer by Bro. Paul Abraham (NW Regional Director).

Bro. T. Emerson (Executive Director, GEMS) inaugurated the church and exhorted the congregation with the word of God.

Bro. R.P. Timothy (Zonal Superintendent, PEACE 2) coordinated the whole program. Bro. Bell Shath led the gathering in praise and worship. Bro. Rakesh Kumar (Associate Director-CP) exhorted the people.

Bro. Jag Narayan serves as a missionary at Belwaniya along with his family.

Pray for the GEMS church at Belwaniya that it may spread the good news of Jesus Christ to the district of Bhojpur. Pray for the believers of this church to be the salt and light of the society and that through their testimonial life they may witness Christ. Pray for the missionary family and all the ministries of this church.

GEMS Nepal Missionary Hari Oli Went to be with the Lord

GEMS family is deeply saddened by the demise of Bro. Hari Oli Prasad who was serving as a missionary at Bhagai field of Nepal. He went to be with the Lord on 12th October 2017.

2 Sep 1958           -           12 Oct 2017

Missionary Bro. Hari Oli (59 years) had fever with vomiting and dysentery and was in his field for three days. When there was no improvement in his health he went to Hetauda and was admitted at the government hospital. He was diagnosed with Jaundice and after two days he was referred to Bharatpur hospital. But on the way he began to vomit blood and his condition worsened and on 12th October at 2:45 PM he breathed his last.

Before knowing the Lord Hari Oli was bound to the habit of playing cards which brought many problems in his family. One-day Pastor Dhil Bahadur met him and shared about Jesus and that was a turning point in his life. He began to go to church and then joined GEMS Timothy College in the batch 2014-15. Because he became a follower of Christ, he was rejected by his family.

After completing TBC he served under Area Leader Bro. Purushotam for six months and then he was shifted to Bhagai which was without any worker. He was ministering with great zeal and he wanted to build a church here before moving to any other field. Even after he fell sick, until he breathed his last Bro. Hari was talking about building the church at Bhagai.

Bro. Hari is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters. After his demise his extended family members did not allow burial and forcefully took the body to do the last rites.

Pray that the Lord may comfort Bro. Hari’s wife and children with His own comfort. Pray that the work that he left at Bhagai will continue with the same zeal for the Lord and His church.

Pray for the Recovery of the Hospitalized GEMS Missionaries

GEMS missionaries Bro. Mohan Raj (Bhagalpur), Bro. Suresh Silas & his wife (Jayant), Sis. Rosaline Jayarani (Sikaria), Bro. Kirubagaran and Bro. James (Sikaria) are hospitalized for various reasons.

Bro. Mohan Raj (STORM Bhagalpur) who has been suffering from multiple heart diseases underwent two surgeries to the heart within 10 days ( His condition was deteriorating, but now his health has shown great improvement. Praise be to God! He was admitted in CMC, Vellore and is now shifted to the MUT rest house. On 22nd October the stitches were removed. But there is some infection in the thigh stitches area.

Bro. Suresh Silas (Jayant – Sonebhadra Zone) & his wife met with an accident on 20th October while on their way to conduct fasting prayer in a village. Bro. Suresh has suffered two major fractures in his leg and his wife has suffered injury.

Sis. Rosaline Jayarani (Sikaria) who is incharge of the GEMS canteen is diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer with Liver metastasis. She was admitted at CMC, Vellore for palliative care from 2ndweek of October. Though she was diagnosed to be in terminal stage there is great improvement in her health.

Bro. Kirubagaran (Publications Coordinator) is admitted at CMC, Vellore since 10th October for spinal bone fracture and neurological problems.

Bro. James Raj (GIFT Coordinator) is suffering from severe back pain due to Acute Inter Vertebral Disc Prolapse in L4 & L5. He is unable to stand straight and is suffering with pain in the back and in legs. He has been admitted at GEMS Hospital, Sikaria and given treatment.

Pray for all the missionaries who are suffering from various sicknesses and are hospitalized. Pray for their treatment and pray for God’s healing. Pray that they may recover to good health. Pray for their families to experience God’s special grace and to receive the needed mental and physical strength at this hour of trial.

Convention Strengthens Children and Believers of Mithilanchal in Christ

GEMS Maithili Zone conducted Children Convention in which 250 children and Soul Winners Convention in which 275 believers attended.

Children Convention
GEMS convention for the children of Maithili Zone was conducted at Madhubani from 13th to 15thOct 2017 in which 250 children attended.

The missionaries of GEMS children department conducted various sessions and through songs, activities, games, puppet shows shared the message of ‘Overflowing Life’ to the children.

Soul Winners Convention
The convention for the believers of Maithili Zone was conducted at Madhubani from 15th to 17thSep 2017 in which 275 believers attended.

The messages were shared by Bro. Naveen David (Asst. Zonal Superintendent, Jharkhand). Bro. Manilal Das (Zonal Superintendent, Maithili Zone) coordinated and organized the children and soul winners’ convention.

The children convention helped the children to know and grow in Christ. The soul winners’ convention encouraged the believers to witness Christ. Pray for all the children who attended the convention to grow in the knowledge of God’s word. Pray for the believers to become effective witnesses of Christ that their life and words may bring people to Christ.
